On June 27th, fellow photographer Pat Ryan and I took another road trip. This time our destination was Springfield, Illinois. Since May 2021, we have been taking our road trips with a specific intention in mind, which is to do field research for our 2022 collaborative photo book titled, “Saturdays are for road trips”.
This photography book will highlight behind the scenes images of how we determine a place to explore, our own perspective through our lens, and our unique photographic styles and aesthetics.
Below are some images taken on our road trip.
On a side note: we had the opportunity to meet up with sculptor, Jason Ackman, as his Farwell House in Frederick, Illinois. Jason was one of my Midwest Artist Studios Project (2014-2016) featured artists. I met Jason in 2008/2009 during a residency called TICA at SAIC. Since then it has been a joy seeing his art grow and his interests flourish.
